SCAM ALERT - Back to School Scams

Higher Education institutions are reporting their students are being targeted by "Welcome Back to School" scams. Students at those institutions have reported receiving communication/invites via text message, various social media platforms, and even flyers with QR codes. These communications likely contain links to a non-affiliated third-party site to purchase non-refundable tickets.

If you receive a communication regarding back to school activities and the purchasing non-refundable tickets for these "activities", please contact the USNH Enterprise Technology Help Desk or your respective institution to verify:

If you received a similar communication and either purchased tickets or provided any financial information:

  • Contact their bank and block or stop the charge
  • Report it as Fraudulent activity to the financial institution
  • Report it to USNH Cybersecurity Operations - IT.Security@usnh.edu or call one of the numbers listed above
  • Change passwords (both bank and USNH)
