This is a summary of the week’s Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) Tech Briefing:

  • Microsoft Teams meetings now appear in the Canvas Navigation for course templates.
  • Canvas released several enhancements to key features in July.
  • EAB Navigate360 added several updates to categories and student tags to improve readability.
  • ET&S will make incremental changes to TeamDynamix over the next six months. The application's appearance will change slightly.

Teams Meetings in Canvas  

To Know:  

Teams meetings now appear in the Canvas Course Navigation for course templates. When accessing your course for the first time, you’ll see Teams meetings LTI instead of Zoom.

Reminder: Kaltura Player Upgrade: Timeline and Impacts 
To Know: Kaltura is upgrading its Canvas and MediaSpace media players on Monday, August 12, 2024.  
 
Kaltura’s next-generation player, V7, offers several functionality and security improvements and a streamlined interface. You can learn more about the new player at https://knowledge.kaltura.com/help/what-are-the-differences-between-the-players.

The automatic upgrade of the Canvas players includes:
 

·     Kaltura media embeds created with the Canvas Rich Content Editor 

·     Kaltura embeds using  Media Gallery and My Media (Kaltura) 

·     Kaltura Video Quizzes used in a Canvas assignment 

·     Usage within MediaSpace channels and media pages set to unlisted. 


To Do:
Content using the Kaltura Embed/Share function (i.e. media housed outside Canvas on a campus website) must be migrated manually to utilize the new player. Reminder: Canvas Updates
To Know: Canvas released several enhancements to key features of the learning management system in July. 
 

Updates include: 

  • Canvas Messaging – New ability to add message signatures and auto-responses. 
  • Assign To Feature for Modules and Pages – Instructors now have options to assign entire modules, individual module items, and pages to Everyone, to specific students, or to specific course sections, allowing for new personalized learning options. Pages will now also be able to assign availability dates to a page. 
  • Rubrics—This enhancement is the first phase of a complete redesign of Rubrics in Canvas. It includes new usability features for administrators and instructors to search and sort rubrics, duplicate and archive rubrics, and see details on where the rubrics are used. There are also usability improvements to creating and editing rubrics.

EAB Navigate 360: New Categories and Tags

To Know: EAB updated Navigate360 categories and tags. All end users will see this improved look and feel.

Incremental Changes to TeamDynamix

To Know: TeamDynamix is the University System of New Hampshire’s ticking and tracking for many operational areas. As part of the TeamDynamix Unified Portal project and in support of the upcoming Workday implementation, you may notice some changes in the TeamDynamix Client Portal. These changes are primarily to the style and layout of the TeamDynamix Client Portal.  Changes are already underway and will continue iteratively, likely until the end of the calendar year.
