Change in Zoom Licensing on Monday, August 19

To Know: As a reminder, ET&S announced in April that USNH will permanently move from Zoom to Microsoft Teams by June 30, 2025. In upcoming Tech Briefings, we will share more information on the transition timeline, support and training, and exception process.

Starting Monday, August 19, ET&S will no longer, by default, provide new USNH employees with Zoom Pro accounts. However, new employees will still receive a Zoom basic account, which has limited functionality but allows users to join and participate in Zoom meetings. ET&S will offer additional Microsoft Teams training sessions. Stay tuned.

ET&S will also switch undergraduate students from pro to basic accounts on Monday, August 19. As with employees, these basic accounts allow students to join and participate in Zoom meetings.

To Do: For an explanation of the differences between Zoom Pro and Basic accounts, go to https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=4945.

For new employees to request an exception to have a Zoom Pro account, please submit a request: https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/Requests/TicketRequests/NewForm?ID=4DoCWVp%7e0Hc.1

External Recipient MailTip

To Know: ET&S is excited to introduce a new Outlook feature designed to keep your communications secure. The External Recipient MailTip alerts you when you’re about to send an email to someone outside the University System of New Hampshire. This handy tool helps prevent accidental sharing of sensitive information and encourages a quick review of your message before hitting send. Stay secure and communicate with confidence!

To Do: No user action is required.

New Quizzes Training Opportunity
To Know: Canvas New Quizzes is an advanced quiz engine that integrates seamlessly with Canvas, offering a modern replacement for the platform’s classic quizzes. Over the past year, Canvas has continued to enhance New Quizzes, allowing instructors to create diverse and dynamic quizzes. These quizzes are displayed as assignments and can be easily duplicated.
This robust tool supports various question types and settings, aligning with educational outcomes to enhance the assessment experience.

To Do: This September, ET&S offers a New Quiz training session titled "New Quizzes—How to Create Questions and Settings." Please refer to our training calendar to sign up for a session. For more information about New Quiz updates, visit the New Quizzes Hub.

Changes to Microsoft Teams Chat

To Know: Microsoft will soon rename the “files” tab in the Microsoft Teams Desktop app chat interface to “shared.” The shared tab will show files and links sent in a chat in a new, richer format, displaying sections for viewing recent files, all files, and links. Note: Teams Channels will not be affected by this change.

To Do: To view the complete article and preview how the new Shared tab in Chat will look, check out this news post on our M365 Learning Pathways site. Note: Teams Channels will not be affected by this change.

Reminder: Kaltura Video Player Upgrade

To Do: Content using the Kaltura Embed/Share function (i.e. media housed outside Canvas on a campus website) must be migrated manually to utilize the new player. Information on that migration process is being developed and released over the coming months. No immediate action is needed for existing content.
