In FY21, Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) consolidated and centralized data centers across the University System of New Hampshire to save money and simplify management. Thus far, ET&S has focused on data centers from Granite State College, the University of New Hampshire-Manchester, and Plymouth State University, moving to a central location on the University of New Hampshire-Durham campus. Systems from Keene State College and other data centers will be moved to UNH-Durham as well.

ET&S migrated all these data centers over the USNH high-speed statewide network with minimal user impact. For example, 103 servers were moved from Plymouth to Durham with no downtime or effects on users.  This effort will save USNH time and money, as less hardware to maintain and central management results in lower costs. At the same time, having services together makes it easier to provide high-quality protection of data and the ability to recover from catastrophic failures.
