Catherine Provencher was named Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) by its Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2024. USNH is New Hampshire’s four-year public higher education system comprised of the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University and Keene State College. With approximately 21,000 enrolled students and more than 90,000 alumni equipped for the workforce and living in state, USNH is New Hampshire’s largest provider of postsecondary education and has a $3.7 billion impact on our local, regional and statewide economies.
As Chancellor, Ms. Provencher is the chief spokesperson for the University System and works closely with the institutional presidents to ensure USNH meets its mission to our students and the State. She is also responsible for a multitude of services provided to all USNH institutions, including but not limited to general counsel, human resources, information technology, procurement, centralized accounting, treasury, including cash, investment and debt management, internal audit, procurement, and institutional research.
She joined the University System in March 2014 following a successful 27-year career in New Hampshire State service, most recently serving as State Treasurer.
Provencher currently serves on the boards of the New England Council, the NH Business and Industry Association, and the NH Business Finance Authority and others. She holds a Master of Business Administration from New Hampshire College and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley College.
