A. Employee Benefits

10. Enrollment in Credit Courses

10.1 Generally, employees using the USNH Tuition Benefit Plan or taking courses at other institutions will not be allowed to use such time away from their job duties as time worked.

10.2 Exception. Eligible employees may be allowed to use such time away from their job duties for credit courses at other institutions where tuition is paid for by USNH, and the course is required to fulfill the requirements of the currently held position.

10.3 Procedure for taking credit courses during normal work hours:

10.3.1 Eligible employees shall obtain the prior approval of their supervising Dean or Director in order to "take courses" per USY V.A.4.7 that conflict with the staff employee's normal work hours.

10.3.2 PAT staff taking courses that are not specifically job-related or required by the Dean or Director will be required to use vacation/personal time or, at the discretion of the supervisor, discuss the option of making up the missed time.

10.3.3 Operating Staff taking courses that are not specifically job-related or required by the Dean or Director will be required to use Earned Time. Other options may include using accrued compensatory time, or, at the discretion of the supervisor, discussing the option to make up the missed time.
