MediaSpace

MediaSpace is a free media tool available to USNH students, faculty and staff that allows the uploading, management and sharing of media. MediaSpace supports nearly all audio, video and image assets.

Purpose and audience

MediaSpace allows easy storage of media to use in websites or on social media, as single items or playlists, for public or restricted audiences. Videos uploaded in MediaSpace can also be accessed through the myCourses LMS for use as course material or assignments. Using MediaSpace instead of YouTube makes it possible to control the playback experience and avoid inappropriate content and ads. MediaSpace also provides automatic captioning, which is required for accessibility compliance.

    MediaSpace software

USNH ET&S is responsible for the maintenance and operation of MediaSpace. The software application, MediaSpace, is licensed from Kaltura.

    Getting an account

USNH students, faculty, and staff with active user IDs and USNH email accounts may upload files and create MediaSpace channels. Log in to MediaSpace to begin adding your media:

See the KnowledgeBase for information on how to:

    Support

MediaSpace is offered as a self-service tool. MediaSpace documentation is available via the USNH IT Knowledge Base.  For issues or problems with MediaSpace, please contact your institution's IT Service Desk.

    Training

MediaSpace is a self-service tool. Training may be offered periodically through the Teaching & Learning Technologies training calendar.

    Responsibility for content

Media posted may be created by members of the University community acting as individuals or as official representatives of the university system of New Hampshire. MediaSpace use must comply with USNH policies and US laws. Before posting files, read these MediaSpace guidelines about copyright, appropriate content, permission when recording others and restricted data.

    Archiving

At this time, media files, channels, and other content in MediaSpace are not removed after a certain period of time.  In the future, this may change.

Individuals are responsible for backing up files that they post or remove.

    Violations

In providing this service, USNH does not preview, review or routinely monitor the contents of the media files of its faculty, students or staff. Concerns about materials in these files should be addressed to the file owner. If that is insufficient to resolve the concerns, the reader should contact the institution's IT Service Desk. USNH reserves the right to remove any content that it considers to violate this standard or any other USNH policies.

If inappropriate or inaccurate content is discovered, USNH ET&S will contact the site owner to discuss the issue. If the site or content owner cannot be contacted or is no longer at USNH, that content will be administered by ET&S and can be removed if deemed inaccurate or inappropriate. When content is obviously unacceptable, ET&S will immediately remove the content prior to contacting the site owner. Unacceptable entries also may cause access to be suspended.
