USNH Applicant- Commonly Asked Questions

What is the status of my application?

You can view your application’s status by logging in and selecting “Your Applications” on the left.  A status of “In Progress” means that your application is still being considered and you do not have to take any action.

How long will it take to hear back on my application?

Every posting is different.  Due to different procedures at each campus, the individual departments may be responsible for pursuing new employees, and they decide when to review applicants for any job postings they may have.  Some campuses or departments wait until a certain number of applicants apply before viewing any applications, while others may check applications every day.

What is the name of the contact person so I can address my cover letter properly / How should I address my cover letter?

Unless the posting provides a specific person, “To Whom It May Concern,” “Dear Sir or Madam,” and “To the Hiring Department” are all perfectly acceptable addressees.

Will I be notified if I move on or if I don’t?

Yes.  You will typically receive an email once a decision has been made.

I made a mistake on my application/resume/cover letter/references/need to add a reference. What do I do?

You may contact us at: https://www.usnh.edu/banner/PA/contactus.html.  Find the appropriate contact person for the campus to which you are applying.  Please have the following information ready: your full name, the job posting you have applied to, the Posting Number, and what you need to correct.

I am trying to submit and there is an error on my application. I can’t fix it/it won’t let me fix it. What do I do?

Please contact: https://www.usnh.edu/banner/PA/contactus.html and find the correct contact person for the campus for which you are applying.

I was trying to apply for a job on the last day and the system shut me out. How can I still apply?

Once the posting is closed, there is no way to submit an application.  Fortunately, we regularly post new job opportunities in a variety of departments and fields and hope you find one that suits your needs.
