Update on the UNH Presidential Search

October 10, 2006 - The UNH Presidential Search Committee met last week to review and analyze materials submitted by individuals who have expressed interest in the UNH presidency. We were very pleased with the positive responses we received and after conducting this first detailed review, I believe that we have very strong pool of candidates.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the search committee worked to narrow the field to those candidates they would like to interview. Over the next few weeks, the committee will be scheduling meetings with these candidates, most likely near the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. These “airport interviews” serve as an efficient way to meet candidates and make the process as convenient as possible for members of the committee and for the candidates.

By the end of the month and after these interviews have been completed, the search committee will meet as a group and work to narrow the field to three or four candidates. These individuals will be invited to visit the Durham campus and UNH Manchester in late October or early November to become acquainted with the campuses and meet with the search committee and the many different constituency groups that make up the university community. This will be the public phase of the search process and meeting schedules will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

I look forward to a high level of campus participation as this is our opportunity to not only meet the candidates but also provide the next president a close-up view all the great things UNH has to offer!

Chair, UNH Presidential Search Committee
