MILEAGE  |  The IRS has increased the reimbursement rate from 50.5 to 58.5 cents, effective July 1 through December 31, 2008. The updated form is available at http://www.usnh.edu/budget/.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS  |  Awards of up to $600 are available to help employees gain skills or knowledge that will benefit their department. The awards are intended to offset costs to explore professional development activities that are new to or somewhat beyond the norm for the employee. SURPLUS  |  UNH/USNH-owned equipment, supplies, or materials that have been declared surplus property are available for purchase at http://www.unh.edu/purchasing/surplus/index.html, and many items are free to other UNH/USNH departments. 

CLASSIFIEDS  |  USNH employees are welcome to post ads on the (free!) UNH Classified Ads site, http://www.unh.edu/ads/index.html.

HR POLICY FY08  |  Changes to the “introductory increase” policy were approved and are effective July 1, 2008. An employee who is hired, promoted, or reclassified to a salary that exceeds the first quartile of the range is now eligible to receive an increase or bonus for attainment of significant skills during the introductory period. HR POLICY FY09  |  Continuing policy discussions by the SPPC in FY09 will include the Family and Medical Leave Act policy for families of active military personnel; termination policy; and civil union policy.

GLOBAL LOOKUP  |  Employees not listed in the Outlook Global Address Book can be easily added by e-mailing the individual’s name, e-mail address, department, and phone number to exchange.administrators@unh.edu.

$500 REIMBURSEMENT  |  The Board of Trustees has approved a mitigation plan for full-time benefits-eligible employees enrolled in a USNH medical plan to help to offset the continuing rise of medical costs. A $500 annual payment will be made to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) – eligibility and details to be finalized – stay tuned!
