University System of NH Board Elects New Chair, Vice Chair & Officers for 2012-13

June 21, 2012—Lee, NH—The University System of New Hampshire (USNH) Board of Trustees elected Richard Galway of Bedford as Board Chair at their annual meeting on June 19th.  The Board also elected Pamela Diamantis of Greenland as Vice Chair, and re-elected Elizabeth Hoadley of Concord as Secretary, and William Ardinger of Concord as Board Liaison to the General Counsel.  The terms run for one year beginning July 1.

The 27-member Board is responsible for the oversight of the University System, which includes the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, Keene State College, and Granite State College.

What follows is some brief biographicalinformation on the officers:

Richard Galway, Chair - Bedford
Graduate of University of New Hampshire (B.A., 1966), magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa; Fulbright Scholar, University of Leeds, England (1966–1967); Boston University Law School (J.D., 1970). Partner at Devine, Millimet, and Branch, P.A., in Manchester, 1970–1995. Appointed to New Hampshire Superior Court by Gov. Merrill in 1995. Appointed to New Hampshire Supreme Court by Gov. Benson in 2004 and, in 2009, became a senior justice.Past president of the New Hampshire Bar Association; member of the American, New Hampshire, and Manchester Bar Associations. Author of two books about workers’ compensation law in New Hampshire. Recipient of New Hampshire Magazine Award of Excellence; Boston University Law School Alumni Award; 2009 PublicInterest Project Distinguished Alumni Award, Boston University Law School; Lifetime Achievement Award, Manchester Bar Association; Judicial Achievement Award, New Hampshire Association of Justice. Appointed to the USNH Board ofTrustees by Gov. Lynch to a term beginning June 15, 2009, and expiring June 30, 2013. 

Pamela Diamantis, Vice Chair - Greenland
Graduate of Southern New Hampshire University (B.A. in economics and finance). Principal of Curbstone Financial Management Corporation, an independent, registered investment advisory firm. Former regional president of U.S. Trust Company and former president of State Street Bank and Trust Company of New Hampshire. Member of Boards of Trustees for Currier Museum of Art and Greater Manchester Family YMCA. Professional membership in AIMR and the Boston Security Analyst Society. Appointed to the USNH Board of Trustees by Gov. Lynch to a term beginning October 22, 2008, and re-appointed to a term expiring June 30, 2016. 

Elizabeth Hoadley, Secretary - Concord
Profile:  Graduate of University of New Hampshire (B.A. in economics, 1957; M.A. in education, 1972). Member, 1999 to present, and president, 2004–2005, of UNH Alumni Association Board. Member of New Hampshire House of Representatives, 1997–2000, and Concord School Board, 1995–2009. Affiliate of Leadership Concord and Leadership New Hampshire. Elected by UNH alumni to serve a four-year term on the USNH Board of Trustees beginning April 7, 2006, and expiring June 30, 2010; re-elected to a second term expiring June 30, 2014.

William Ardinger, Liaison to the General Counsel - Concord
Graduate of University of New Hampshire, (B.A. in economics, 1982); Harvard Law School (J.D., 1985). Attorney, treasurer, and shareholder of Rath, Young and Pignatelli, P.C., of Concord. Member of New Hampshire Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules, 2005–present, and Board of Bar Examiners, 2008–present. Former member, 1999–2005, and chair, 2004–2005, of Concord Community Music School. Elected to New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1980 for one term, representing towns of Cornish and Croydon. Appointed to the USNH Board of Trustees by Gov. Lynch to a term beginning May 21, 2008, and expiring June 30, 2011; reappointed by Gov. Lynch to a term expiring June 30, 2015.
