Two USNH Facilities Recognized for Design Excellence

JANUARY 19, 2010 – LEE, NH – The New Hampshire chapter of the American Institute of Architects recognized facilities at Keene State College and the University of New Hampshire as part of their annual "Excellence in Architecture Awards Program." The Pondside III residence hall at Keene State received the "Honors Award" and the Southeast Regional Community residence halls at UNH received "Special Mention."

"Being recognized by your peers for excellence is the highest form of professional honor and I commend the work of the architectural firms involved in each of the projects: Lavallee Brensinger Architects of Manchester for their work at Keene State; and JSA, Inc. of Portsmouth for the work at UNH. Their accomplishments serve as visual reminder of top quality work on our campuses," said Bill Haverly, director of capital planning and development at the University System of New Hampshire (USNH).
Oversight of facilities management is a centralized function of USNH for all four of the colleges and universities.

The AIANH Excellence in Architecture Awards Program was instituted in 1983 for the purpose of providing public and professional recognition for architectural projects of design excellence by New Hampshire architects. Each entry is judged on the following criteria: overall design excellence including aesthetics, clarity, creativity, appropriate functionality, sustainability, building performance, and appropriateness with regard to fulfilling the client's program.
