ACE Program Reduces Costs for College for Freshmen and Sophomores Attending the University System of NH
The University System of New Hampshire is working to break down barriers for the neediest state residents who want to attend one of our residential campuses - the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, or Keene State College.
The Affordable College Effort (ACE) is for full time freshman and sophomores for which the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is under $1,000 (note EFC was increased from zero to $999 in December 2006 as part of a program expansion). During their first and second years, students will incur no debt for the direct costs of education (tuition, fees, room, and board).
ACE Awards for 2006-07 were $4,625 and are expected to be approximately $5,500 in 2007-08. Eligibility mirrors the financial requirements for receiving the maximum federal Pell Grant. There is no application – financial aid offices use a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility.
Financial aid staff will work with ACE recipients to help them graduate with as little debt as possible. For more information, contact the USNH financial aid offices.
