The Honorable
JOHN H. LYNCH
(ex-officio)
PROFILE: Graduate: University of New Hampshire (B.A., 1974); Harvard (M.B.A.); and Georgetown University (J.D.). Associate dean of the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration from 1982-1991. Former president of the UNH Alumni Association, a former president and member of UNH’s Meritorious Service Association. Appointed to the Board by Gov. Shaheen to a term beginning January 5, 2000 and expiring June 30, 2003; reappointed by Gov. Benson. Ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees beginning January 6, 2005 when he became the State’s 79th Chief Executive.

RICHARD E. ASHOOH

Served on the staff of former U.S. Senator Warren Rudman (R-NH) as a professional staff member for six years on the U.S. Senate Committee on Government Affairs. Chairman, Christa McAuliffe Planetarium Commission; Member, Board of Directors, Business & Industry Association, Catholic Medical Center, NH Political Library; Board of Trustees, Franklin Pierce College. PROFILE: Attended the University of New Hampshire. Founder and President of The Dupont Group Ltd., a government relations consulting firm in Concord; director of Merchantbanc, a venture capital firm in Manchester. As a former five-term State Senator, he served as Senate Majority Leader and was elected President of the Senate in 1990. Appointed to the Board by Gov. Benson on March 5, 2003 to a term expiring on June 30, 2005; reappointed by Gov. Lynch to a term expiring on June 30, 2009.

Co-founded Echo Management Group, a leading firm in development of information systems for behavioral health care and social service agencies. Appointed to the Board by Gov. Shaheen on June 26, 2002 to a term expiring June 30, 2006; reappointed by Gov. Lynch to a term expiring June 30, 2010.

Served as Provost at Rowan University, Dean at the State University of New York College at Cortland, Associate Vice Chancellor at the University of Maryland System, and Executive Assistant to the President and Professor of Biology at Towson University. Ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2005, when she assumed the presidency of Keene State College.

PROFILE: Graduate: University of New Hampshire (B.S., 1967, M.O.E. 1975); Northeastern University (M.S. 1983, Ph.D. 1988). Dr. LaCroix was appointed president of the College for Lifelong Learning (renamed Granite State College) on August 1, 2004. Formerly Dean of the University of New Hampshire at Manchester, Interim Dean of the UNH Graduate School and Associate Dean of the School of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire. Ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees effective August 1, 2004.

Shaheen to a term beginning May 23, 2001 and expiring June 30, 2004; reappointed by Gov. Benson to a term expiring June 30, 2008.

LORRAINE S. MERRILL

PROFILE: Graduate: University of New Hampshire (B.S., 1973). Partner in family-owned and operated dairy farm; agricultural journalist and technical writer specializing in the environment and planning; active on sustainable agricultural councils and other boards. Also served as a Food and Society Policy Fellow in 2007, this is a fellowship supported by the Kellogg Foundation and the Thomas Jefferson Agricultural Institute. First began service to the USNH Board on September 17, 1997, appointed by Gov. Shaheen; reappointed by Gov. Shaheen to a term expiring June 30, 2005; now serving as an ex-officio member having been appointed as Commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food by Gov. Lynch and confirmed by the Executive Council to a term beginning November 28, 2007 to November 18, 2012.

PROFILE: Graduate: Keene State College (BEd., 1971; MEd., 1976); University of New Hampshire (CAGS, 1992; PhD, 2001). A New Hampshire public school educator for 32 years, teaching at the elementary level for four years, a teaching principal in a K-8 school, a vice principal and principal in a K-12 school system. Elected by the KSC alumni to serve a four-year term beginning July 1, 2003 and expiring June 30, 2007; re-elected to serve a second term expiring June 30, 2011.

PROFILE: A senior with a major in History with a specialization in the United States and a minor in Political Science. Treasurer of Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society) and a member of both the Honors Society Council and the National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Formerly served two terms as Class Representative, Secretary of the Student Assembly and Finance Committee Student Representative (20042006). He currently serves as a member of the Student Government Executive Board and ex-officio member of the Student Assembly and Student Representative to the College’s Computer Information Technology Committee. After graduating in May 2008, plans to attend law school in Boston, Massachusetts. Elected by the KSC students to serve as a Student Trustee for a term expiring June 30, 2007; re-elected to serve a second term expiring June 30, 2008.

PROFILE:  Graduate: Post University (Associate in Science – 1968), attended Plymouth Teachers College and University of New Hampshire (1962 – 1965).  Partner in Longview Farm (1999 NH Farm of Distinction) a dairy farm and produce business; founder and director of the Plymouth Community Farmers’ Market, Co-Chair of PFLAG NH (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays – NH).  Appointed to the Board by Gov. Lynch on April 14, 2008 to a term expiring on June 30, 2009.

ANNA B. PETERSON

PROFILE: A senior with a dual major in History and Justice studies and a minor in Sociology. She works as a Building Manager Supervisor in the Memorial Union Building on campus, she also serves as Vice-chair of the Memorial Union Board of Governors and as an Honors Program Student Representative. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society) Alpha Phi Sigma (Justice Studies Honors Society). She plans to attend law school in 2008. Elected by the UNH students to serve as a Student Trustee for a term expiring June 30, 2008.
