Dr. Edward MacKay (2009-2013)

  • Led efforts to continually increase financial aid support to New Hampshire students during the severe economic downturn. Financial aid increased from $25.8m in FY10 to a projected $33.2m in FY13, a 29% increase.
  • Enhanced relations with the Community College System of NH and developed a Memorandum of Understanding to help meet key workforce needs in the state by doubling the number of science, technology, education and math (STEM) students by 2025.
  • Worked with presidents, the Board of Trustees and campus personnel to mitigate an unprecedented reduction in state support and implement a comprehensive plan that significantly limited the impact of these reductions on students.
  • Developed greater transparency and accountability across the University System by creating the Chancellor's Annual Accountability Report and by working with the Change Management Task Force to realign functions that created greater efficiencies across the system and more autonomy for the campuses.
